Autumn term 2017
Rehearsals will start on Tuesday 12 September at 7.30 pm for a programme of music by Scandinavian composers. Grieg’s Ave Stella Maris and four psalms may be familiar to some but Gjeilo is a new composer to most of us (he’s a Norwegian living in the USA). Much of what we’re singing is based on traditional folk tunes.
Please arrive in good time to collect your scores.
Rehearsals take place every Tuesday in term time, apart from half-term – see the dates below.
If you have not sung with us before please email us to check vacancies – email@example.com.
How to find us
We rehearse in the music block at Headington School, Headington Road, OX3 7TD. You can click here to see a bird’s eye view of the school: the music block is next to the tennis courts.
Enter through the gates on Headley Way. Then, if you’re on foot, go straight ahead and go behind the main buildings – the music block is the last building you come to, past the dining room. Turn left just before the building to get to the entrance.
If you’re coming by car, turn left from the Headley Way gates and drive round the front of the school, heading towards the tennis courts where there is plenty of parking.
Paying your subs
The termly subscription is £30 (or £25 if you are not wage-earning for any reason). This includes the hire of your scores. We don’t want anyone to be deterred by the cost – so please speak to the Treasurer if you need to.
You can now pay your subs online. We have a new bank account from April 2017. Please make payment to Headington Singers Projects, sort code 30-93-93, account number 01472806. Include a reference showing the term (SPR, SUM or AUT), 2-digit year, and your surname and forename as in this example: AUT17Jones-Jim
Singing in the community
Recently we’ve been putting on a short programme of carols and songs to entertain the residents of local care homes and retirement housing. Over 20 choir members have signed up for this sub-choir. This year we’ll start adding songs from the 1940s – 1960s, songs from the shows and other musical offerings to our repertoire.
If you’re interested in joining in please get in touch with Tim Devenport – firstname.lastname@example.org – 07748 353 428.
